So the new season is fast approaching for us. We’ve been training for a quite a while already. With input coming from many people it seems that everyone is enjoying their football at the moment. It’s nice to see new faces. With Nomads looking to carry on the trend of improving. It’s been a tough pre-season from my point of view.

Firstly my main concern was how many players we’d actually have come September. This however has eased a lot. With the addition of Gareth returning to bolster the midfield has helped. Kev Martin when he makes his return from Australia will help a depleted defence. Also Kev Lake looks set to join us. With Kev joining, it gives Nomads more selection up front, which with Nath Witcombe unavailable sometimes it brings a new dimension. Also finally the return of a fit again Dave Chedge has given us a major boost at the back with Colby off to university for his final year.

Secondly it’s how to pay for everything. League fees of over £100 and insurance for £75 means it isn’t cheap even in the close season. Though we have managed to pay for all of it somehow.

With many pre-season matches coming up it gives me a chance to try a few things out, and get everyone match fit. Having the runs before training and people expressing what they like to see has seen training improve which is nice to know. Also good feedback on the forum has helped.

We have to take what we are doing in training into matches, keep level heads and not get into silly arguments. Let the ball do the work and work for each other. We’ll an improvement in Nomads and achieve what we all want a trophy, which will mean I’ll have to spend some money….
